New dresser

Hello Everyone, I do hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to Tina from The Quiet Home who very kindly flagged up my blog to her readers. I have just began to understand what a lovely unique community I am entering. I have been able to read some fabulous blogs and pick up some useful tips as well.  When I started my blog I really didn't expect anyone to read it so the comments have been wonderful, thank you all so much.

Writing my blog has also opened up my eyes to the amount of work and commitment involved. I have been reading blogs for quite a while now and I am ashamed to say that, for most of that time, I have been a 'secret follower'.  There was a reason for this which was that I didn't feel that I had much to offer as I was new to crafting.  Having feedback on my blog has helped me to understand how important feedback really is and this weekend has been especially nice because of the special comments I have received so a big thanks once again to you all.

The other little point I wanted to say was that I have read over my posts once again and been horrified by the number of typos I have made. I am able to touch type but this can a hindrance sometimes as I do miss errors so sorry to everyone.  I must do better in future!!

As you know I do love anything vintage and have wanted an old kitchen unit for years, much to the amusement of my husband.  I have lusted over the many magazines showing the cupboards, thinking I would never find one.  Well lovely readers I found one and have just picked it up.

My New Sewing Cupboard

I think the cupboard is just fab. When I opened one of the drawers I found an old newspaper lining it - the date was 1940 so I was over the moon to think it had survived so much and remained fairly intact. The only disappointing thing is one of the lovely windows has been replaced but you can't have everything can you. I can't decide which colour to have but know that one shade has to be cream  and the other is under consideration.  I love red but my husband says blue or pale green.  I really want to stay true to the colours around at the time. What do you think lovely readers?  I will keep updating you on the progress.

I also picked up this lovely embroidered piece of linen for £4 at a charity shop over the weekend. I adore crinoline ladies and am always on the lookout for old embroidered pieces.  I thought I would try and put a small lining with some ties to make a cushion.  This will be my next project along with my crochet cushion.

Well lovely readers that is all for now. It was my birthday on Friday and I had a lovely time with my family and gorgeous grandchildren.  Will post some pictures of my gifts later in the week.  Meanwhile it is back to work tomorrow and working on my projects in the evening.  Thank you for keeping me going.

I hope to see you all very soon, do call in any time you are all more than welcome.

Your cupboard is FAB! What a find! If it was mine, I'd paint it either cream or a pale duck-egg blue, but I'm very into soft, quiet colours.

Your vintage linen is beautiful too! Another great find! :)

Happy belated birthday...I'm so glad you had a happy day! xxx
